Firefighting
Our son is a firefighter. He came to us with an idea to build a better forcible entry wedge than what was currently on the market. After design and testing of several prototype wedges on our local training facility, we finalized the ProCap HD and ProCap Lite wedges.
Pro Cap Wedges
Both wedges are crafted from American-made 6061-T6 aluminum and feature:
- A double-inclined plane to assist door entry without bending the tip
- Top and bottom knurling for “progressive capture” during entry
- Rounded edges to prevent snagging on pockets and gloves
- Magnetic base for pre-staging the wedge on steel door frames, and
- A standard gas shutoff valve slot for shutting off gas at the meter
Wedge details
- The ProCap HD wedge is 5 inches long, 1.75 inches wide, weighs 7.2 ounces and has a hole that fits over a Halligan pike.
- The ProCap Lite wedge is only 5.2 ounces for easy personal carry in a pocket or helmet band. It is just over 4 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.
- Both wedges are 1.15 inches thick at the widest section.
We believe the ProCap wedge to be the best forcible entry wedge on the market. They are affordable and light-weight, yet durable. Our son has over 100 practice door entries with his personal-carry Lite wedge and it is still going strong.
